FLICKER BENZ M/W Benzydamine (15%) Mouth Wash Benzydamine, available as a 15% mouthwash, is an anti-inflammatory and painkilling medication used for relieving pain and discomfort associated with sore mouth and throat conditions, such as mouth ulcers and sore throats. It's available in different forms including mouth rinse, lozenges, and spray, and can be obtained either on prescription or over-the-counter at a pharmacy. When using benzydamine mouthwash, the usual dosage for adults and children aged 13 years and older is 15ml, used as a gargle or a rinse around the mouth for about 20 to 30 seconds before being spit out. It is recommended not to swallow the mouthwash. The mouthwash can be used every 1.5 to 3 hours as needed. If you find the mouthwash causes stinging, it can be diluted with an equal amount of water. For the spray, adults and children aged 13 to 17 years typically use 4 to 8 sprays, while the dosage for younger children is determined based on weight. The spray should be directed at the sore part of your throat or mouth and used every 1.5 to 3 hours as needed. Benzydamine lozenges are generally used for adults and children over 6 years, with a typical dose of one lozenge three times daily. The lozenge should be allowed to dissolve slowly in the mouth. It's important to note that benzydamine should not be used for more than 7 days unless advised otherwise by a doctor or dentist. Also, care should be taken to avoid getting it into the eyes.
